Is House Speaker Paul Ryan a Republican Party Traitor ?

He's collaborated with TRUMP® & laughed at The Donald's jokes.

Ryan has ridden the fence over Trump being a sexual predator and chauvinist pig. Ryan's Republican Party, and Rep. Paul Ryan himself in Wisconsin, deserve a crushing defeat.

Republican Banter is now intolerable.

Stain on Spain

The UK has snubbed Spain for centuries, and continues.

Taking advantage of internal succession conflicts in 1704 after the death of Spanish King Charles II, the British and allies took over Gibraltar.

The Brits have never relaxed their grip on The Rock. Spain contests Gibraltar's sovereignty.

Still the cheeky Brits lecture the Spanish, though British power is considerably diminished.

Most recently, the Russians were due to call at the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in north Africa for naval refueling, a procedure recently often repeated.

But the Brits didn't like it -- according to the BBC:
"The UK would be "extremely concerned" if refuelling went ahead."

"British Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon, said: "We'd be extremely concerned that any NATO member should consider assisting a Russian carrier group that might end up bombing Syrian civilians.""

The Telegraph (British newspaper) reported:
"Former British Defence Minister Sir Gerald Howarth said it would be "wholly inappropriate" for a NATO member to refuel the Russian vessels"

"Lord West, a former head of the Royal Navy, explained "There are sanctions against Russia and it's an extraordinary thing for a NATO ally to do""

Expect Spain to back down -- allowing the UK to dictate Spanish policy.

Happy United Nations Day

I know it is suppressed in the USA, but Happy United Nations Day anyhow (24 October every year). We often have a party at home with international friends. This day's discussed & celebrated throughout Swedish schools, and in many places around the world.

Trump Bumbo ?

Mr. Donald Trump, Republican Party nominee for President of the United States, basks in media attention with outrageous comments. Another zinger every few days captures the front page. He will not stop.

But publicity is not enough, nor are his billions, when morally bankrupt.

Republican family values are totally forgotten.

Resist Conquest

Hawaiians take heart. The International Criminal Court has determined the intentional destruction of cultural sites can be ruled a War Crime. The 27th Sept. 2016 judgment has no power yet to punish those who've desecrated Native Hawaiian places, but it brings forward that day pono is restored in Hawai'i.

In ICC Prosecutor v. Al Mahdi, (evaluating the occupation & destruction around Timbuktu), the Court noted crimes against property are generally of less gravity than crimes against persons, but the targeted sites were religious buildings with a symbolic and emotional value for local inhabitants.

UNESCO hails this historic decision for heritage protection:"Deliberate attacks on culture have become weapons of war in a global strategy of cultural cleansing seeking to destroy people as well as the monuments bearing their identities, institutions of knowledge and free thought."

The USA has systematically destroyed native cultures and marginalized the remnants. Many war criminals pass away with souvenirs of abuse decorating their walls; beyond reach of the ICC. Yet this is an alarm to them & their heirs: the world is watching.

Unsurprisingly, the ICC judgment has seen little publicity in American corporate media. But The Japan Times is on record with their stirring editorial, "A historic ruling to protect culture" (link)

Hawaiians cannot as yet bring the United States of America to justice in front of the International Criminal Court. Yet we can resist conquest, and we can understand & document ongoing atrocities and war crimes.

Important Native Hawaiian places have been, and are still being, deliberately vandalized. Such offenses include military installations & golf on Mōkapu (Heleloa funeral grounds), replacement of Puowaina heiau with Punchbowl cemetery, etc.
