 What's an Occupying (Colonial) Power?

(𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝑰 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆) The occupying (colonial) power is a term that can be used to refer to a foreign country or entity that takes control of another territory and its people, often for economic and political reasons. Here are five possible ways to describe the occupying (colonial) power, using different synonyms or perspectives:
• The invader or aggressor that imposes its authority & culture on the native population.
• The exploiter or oppressor that extracts resources & profits from the colonized land and people.
• The dominator or hegemon that establishes its supremacy & influence over the subjugated territory and its inhabitants.
• The ruler or administrator that governs the occupied territory according to its own laws & interests.
• The colonizer or settler that displaces or assimilates the indigenous population and claims the land as its own.

Jan 17th, 1893: racist white oligarchs used US troops to force Hawaiian Queen Lili'uokalani to conditionally concede to America's stronger power: "Now, to avoid any collision of armed forces and perhaps the loss of life, I do, under this protest, and impelled by said force, yield my authority until such time as the Government of the United States shall, upon the facts being presented to it, undo the action of its representatives..."  😢 Military occupation persists, 2024
